To strengthen the environmental planning and management of Industrial Parks, APIIC and GTZ have set up an Environment Cell consisting of senior officials of APIIC, experts and advisors from GTZ.
The major tasks of the Environment Cell at APIIC are:
Strengthening of environmental infrastructure (CETP, sewerage, drainage, water harvesting, waste management, plantation, disaster management) in the existing Industrial Parks of APIIC.
Planning and development of new Industrial Parks with proper Site Master Plans and incorporation of environmental considerations adequately.
Strengthening of environmental management capacities and capacity development of relevant stakeholders IALAs, industries etc.
Strengthening of environmental tools and mechanisms – website, guidelines, case studies etc.
The tasks of the GTZ team at APIIC are:
Technical support tasks: a) identifying the requirements of APIIC and other stakeholders, detailing the requirements and proposing actions for fulfilling the requirements; b) Technical assistance to APIIC team and other stakeholders as per requirement, especially in achieving the objectives/targets of the project.
Coordination tasks: coordination with APIIC and other relevant stakeholders, with the consultants (local and overseas) appointed for various tasks, coordination with training institutions appointed by GTZ, coordination with GTZ-ASEM at Delhi, coordination with Environment Management Cell established by APIIC at industrial parks so as to complete various defined tasks of the eco industrial park project.
Documentation tasks: Compilation of environment related GIS database for the existing industrial estates; documentation of ‘environmental indicators’, preparation of reports including case studies, preparation of progress reports etc.
